“The medium-sized grand piano of our Schimmel Trilogy meets the high expectations of pianists in a special way. Rigorous construction ideas come together with the most frequently played grand piano size as a working tool for pianists.

The instrument shouldn't be too big, because often space is limited. But it has to be large enough to offer pianists tonal richness and sonority. The precise transfer of parts of the action and large parts of the sound system of our full-size concert grand into the C 189 therefore makes this model an ideal “tool” for demanding pianists.”

This is how the Pianist Magazine (Claire Jackson in discussion with Alberto Reyes) described this piano:

“In the showroom, nested against its larger relations, the 169 seems tiny for a grand piano, but as Loat and Howells explain, they often end up swapping the 189 for the 169, as clients try the instrument in the larger setting then feel the 189 is too powerful when they get it home. Reyes likes the upper mid-range in this model. ‘Often as the strings become shorter, pianos lose their voice a bit. This piano [189] feels very secure in this section.’ As ever context is important. ‘It’s about the right piano for the right room’, says Loat.”
